Mr Murray is a graduate of Mount Allison University (B.A.Hons) and Dalhousie University (LL.B)

Recognized as a Queen’s Counsel since 2002

Member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society since 1985

Member of the Canadian Bar Association since 1983

Member of the Professional Responsibility Hearing Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society since 2007

Past elected member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society Bar Council, and several of its committees, including:

  • Supreme Court Liaison Committee (Criminal),
  • Courthouse Users Committee,
  • Provincial Court Committee,
  • Legal Aid Committee,
  • Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee,
  • Discipline Committee,
  • Lawyers’ Assistance Program Committee, and
  • Library Services Committee.

Mr Murray has been involved in project work through the Canadian International Development Agency to enhance the experience of defendants in criminal justice proceedings internationally, specifically in the Eastern Carribean States and Bangladesh.

Mr Murray has served on a number of the Canadian Bar Association’s standing committees, and participates in many of the association’s continuing legal education initiatives. His committee work has included Chairing the Civil Liberties Subsection and the Sole Practitioner’s Subsection of the Nova Scotia Branch.
